Tribal India
Orissa is a hidden gem in the itinerary of visitors to India. Located on the east coast of India, the state is largely tribal with one in four persons within the state living in a tribal village setup. The numbers are said to be great with many undiscovered and unnamed tribes located in isolated parts of the state. This trip presents the incredible aspects of this gem with natural beauties including India's largest saltwater lake in Gopalur and stunning scenery on the coastline of Puri. The trip is defined in culture with wonderful tribal visits including to the famous Dhong tribes, and off course the black pagoda.

The Black Pagoda, as named by European solders who wanted to distinguish it amongst the other temples in Orissa is based in Konark and also known as the Temple of the Chariot of The Sun God, and was built by King Langula Narasimha Deva in the thirteenth century A.D. to celebrate the golden era of Orissan art.

The village visits to the Dhongaria tribes are an eye opening encounter with the nose plug earrings, facial tattoos and peacocking garments. This trip to Orissa is ideal for those wanting to see a new side of India with off the beaten track visits and truly personable experiences.
